When parents have children, they commit to love the child regardless of their ambitions/personality. Thought nothing is more troubling then the relationship between Asher and Aryeh who have reconcilable differences since Asher committed his time to art not education. Aryeh feels betrayed by his son's lack of acceptance in Judaism and constant defiance of authority. Aryeh, who mission's for the Rebbe, is almost always lacking in his communication with Asher. The lack of communication hurts his relationship with his son, who is looking to fill the large void his father leaves behind when he leaves. His love for art is really essential in his development as an individual and the lack of motivation from his father has led him to disobey his dedication and importance of Judaism. Aryeh, not wanting Asher to learn how to expand beyond the walls of the Judaism into a more society accepting material. Jacob Kahn was more influential male figure who gave Asher the tools to be a successful artist. Kahn's influence in helping Asher identify artistic representation by shunning religious bias has strained his dad's reputation in the Jewish community. Ashejavascript:void(0)r success in painting, was due to the nude, crucifixion he painted. His father's unaccepting of his love for art expand to its potential when Asher decided his family and religion was not enough to deteriarate his creativity. When he showed his family in a crucifixion, he hurt his parents and his community, which broke any possibility that he would make up with his father.
